    What's new at the University of Mysore?

    The University of Mysore admissions process 2023 has begun. Admission to the programmes offered by the University of Mysore is either merit- or entrance-based, depending on the applied course. The institution also conducts the Postgraduate Entrance Examination for admission to PG courses (PGEE). It has released the PG/PG Diploma/Diploma/Certificate courses (including foreign Students) offline admission notification for the academic year 2022-23.

    University of Mysore, commonly known as Mysore University, is a public state university in Karnataka. It was established on July 27, 1916. It is the first university in India to be started as a modern central university and the second to be established within the state of Karnataka. The university was founded during the reign of Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV, the Maharaja of Mysore. The University Grants Commission recognises the university for offering higher studies degree courses on-campus as well as online. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has accredited the University of Mysore with an "A" grade on November 4, 2017.  As per the NIRF Ranking 2022, the University of Mysore is ranked 33 in the university category and 54 in the overall category. 

    Some of the popular courses offered by the University of Mysore are B.A. L.L.B, B.Com, M.Tech., M.Phil., M.A. etc. The university conducts the University of Mysore entrance examination (UOM CET), an entrance test for admission to University of Mysore courses. The UoM CET is held in March every year for admissions to UG or PG programmes, including distance learning and multimedia technologies. The university has three campuses: Mysore University, Tubinakere near Mandya, Hemagangotri near Hassan, and Chamarajanagar. The Tubinakere campus near Mandya is known as the Sir M. Visvesvaraya Postgraduate Centre and is located on the Mysore-Bangalore highway at a distance of about 8 km from Mandya. The postgraduate centre at Hemagangotri, Hassan, is located near Kenchanahalli village on the Mangalore-Bangalore highway at a distance of about 10 km from Hassan. Dr BR Ambedkar Postgraduate Centre of Mysore University is located at Chamarajanagar, the southernmost district headquarters of Karnataka State. 

    With a teacher-student ratio of 1:25, the university offers excellence in its academic courses. The campus of the University of Mysore is spread over an area of 739 acres. There are 232 faculty members overall at the university. The placement cell of the University of Mysore is active and provides training to final-year degree students of the university.

    University of Mysore Admission 2023

    University of Mysore admissions are available to 107 postgraduate, 6 undergraduate, and 7 diploma courses. The results of the Karnataka PGCET are used to determine whether applicants will be admitted to the M.C.A., M.B.A., M.Tech. Computer Science and Technology, and M.Tech. Computer Cognition Technology programmes at UoM Mysore. The university's entrance exam is the basis for granting admission to the remaining programmes that the varsity offers. By visiting the admission portal and completing the application form, candidates who meet the program's eligibility requirements can apply for admission to University of Mysore.

    University of Mysore Application Process 2023

    University of Mysore application process generally starts in March every year with the release of the application form for the MBA program. The selection criteria for different courses are different in the University and for different courses. The application process for the University of Mysore is completely online. To complete the UoM application form, candidates need to follow the below-mentioned steps:

    • Visit the official University of Mysore admission portal.
    • Select the programme and fill out the registration form with the required information, such as educational details, personal details, and contact address.
    • Scanned signatures and color photographs of the candidate must be uploaded along with the UoM application form. To avoid any difficulty in the admission process, the candidates are advised to keep all the required documents, such as birth certificate, category certificate, last qualifying degree certificate, etc., handy.
    • Finally, submit the application form. And pay the UoM application fee via any online payment method such as net banking, credit and debit cards, BHIM UPI, Paytm, etc. Candidates are advised to keep the receipt of the fee paid as proof for further reference. If Confirmation Page is not generated after completing the fee payment, then the transaction is cancelled, and the deducted amount is refunded to the candidate's account. Then candidates have to make transactions again. 
    • Eligible candidates will be invited for the entrance exam (Except for MBA). MBA aspirants have to fill in their CAT score in the UoM application form 2023, and upon shortlisting, they will be directly called for group discussion and personal interviews. Admission is granted on the basis of the candidate's performance in all the selection rounds.
    • UoM CET is a computer-based test, which is mandatory to qualify to be eligible for admission. Upon qualifying for the examination, Candidates are invited for viva voce by the UoM admission committee (the admission committee is different for different courses). The selection of candidates for UoM admission is made based on their overall performance in the last qualifying examination, UoM CET marks, and Viva-voce marks.
    • PhD aspirants are exempted from UoM CET only if they have qualified for national-level entrance examinations such as UGC/CSIR NET (JRF) examination, SET, GATE (with a valid score), or Teacher Research Fellowship.
    • For admission to Degree of Proficiency in Bhasha Mongolian, Indonesia, and Hebrew, the selection for admission is done on a merit basis as per the Certificate of Proficiency (CoP) performance in respective languages. Merit lists are prepared for each category, i.e., candidates belonging to categories such as SC, ST, OBC, PWD, and EWS are eligible for marks concession as per the approved admission Policy of the University of Mysore.
    • If a candidate has fulfilled the eligibility criteria and the procedure prescribed under the University of Mysore Admission and Fee Regulations is followed, then only then he/she will be eligible for UoM admission for that course.
    • Candidates are advised to keep their original UoM application form with them throughout the admission process. The UoM application form should not be submitted again, or any correction/changes in it will render it invalid as per UoM rules. No additional documents will be called after submitting one or multiple applications, including additional documents such as photocopies of certificates, etc. These kinds of additional documents are irrelevant for admission. Moreover, these additional documents will be rejected by the University.
    • Candidates are advised to review their application form thoroughly before submission, as the University of Mysore will not accept changes/ corrections. 
    • After successfully submitting their application form, candidates must take a printout of the confirmation page for future reference. The response for admission will be emailed to the candidate's registered email ID during this process.
    • To apply for admission to Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) courses, candidates are required to appear for the UoM entrance exam and viva voce. There is no separate application/admission procedure for B.Tech aspirants at UoM other than CUET.

     

    University of Mysore UG Application Process 2023

    • Fulfil all the University of Mysore UG admission criteria for the desired course.
    • Visit the University of Mysore's admissions website to submit an application.
    • Take part in the admission exam for the university.
    • According to their entrance score, applicants are shortlisted for admission.
    • Shortlisted candidates are required to visit the campus.
    • The final step consists of document submission and payment of course fees.

    University of Mysore Cutoff 2023

    University of Mysore cutoff 2023 list will be released by NTA for all its undergraduate programmes on the basis CUET score. For admission to a PG course in UOM, the university will release its own cut-off basis UOM CET. Candidates seeking admission to UOM must know what marks and ranks they must secure to get a seat for themselves in the desired UOM UG and PG programmes. Check the last year UOM CET cutoff for marks and ranks to get an idea of the cut-off trends. Meeting the University of Mysore cut-off 2023 is mandatory for candidates to get enrolled in UOM.

    There are several scholarship programmes at the University of Mysore for its students.     • Merit-cum-Capitation Scholarship: Merit-cum-capitation scholarship is available for meritorious students whose family's gross income does not exceed Rs 2,50,000/- per annum. 
    • Recognized Merit Scholarship: Recognised merit scholarship is awarded to meritorious students of higher secondary or equivalent qualification. The University recognises a student as 'recognised merit' once the student has acquired a minimum CGPA (CGPA & CGPA in the previous year). 
    • Financial Aid in the form of Hostel Fee and Book Allowance: For students whose family's income does not exceed Rs 1,50,000 per annum. 
    • Scholarships by Government/State/Central organisations to meritorious students studying in higher education institutions. 
    • Scholarship of professional colleges affiliated with the University of Mysore 
    • Scholarship to meritorious students by the UoM Student Welfare Department 

    Following the award, programmes are offered to students to provide financial assistance. The eligibility is based on extraordinary academic performance in a specialised field.
