About UGC NET 2023 Exam

The UGC NET Answer Key 2023 has been released for the exam heldfrom Feb 21 to March 15 2023, for a total of 8,34,537 candidates, under Phase 1, Phase 2, Phase 3, Phase 4 and Phase 5. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has published theUGC NET 2023 Answer Key on the official website (ugcnet.nta.nic.in). The NTA has also uploaded the Question Paper and Response Sheet of the NTA UGC Exam 2023 for all phases along with the answer key on the official website. The UGC NET 2023 Results are expected to be released along with the final answer key or after the release of the final answer key.

NTA has been entrusted by the University Grants Commission (UGC) with the major responsibility of conducting UGC-NET Result. The exam is conducted to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor in Indian universities and colleges. For COVID-19 affected candidates, the validity of UGC NET JRF Award Letter has been extended by one year beyond its three years validity.

What is UGC NET?

University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) is a national-level examination conducted to determine whether a candidate is eligible for the posts of Assistant Professor, Lectureship, or Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) or not. UGC NET Exam is held twice in a year for a total of 81 subjects. Candidates may find all the information they are required to know about UGC NET 2023 here, like the UGC NET exam's eligibility, application process, important dates, admit card, result, selection process, and more.

UGC NET Conducting Body

UGC NET is organized by the National Testing Agency (NTA) from December 2018. The National Testing Agency (NTA) was established by the Union Government of India to conduct national-level entrance examinations across the country. Prior to the inception of the NTA, UGC NET Examination was administered by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on behalf of the University Grants Commission (UGC). Until June 2018, CBSE used to conduct the UGC NET. Previous to that, UGC NET was organized by the UGC's National Educational Testing Bureau.

UGC NET 2023 Eligibility Criteria

The basic criteria that candidates must fulfil to meet UGC NET eligibility 2023 are mentioned below in terms of the age limit and qualification:

UGC NET 2023 Age Limit:

  • Candidates should not be more than 31 years of age in order to be eligible for JRF.
  • There is no age restriction to applying for the post of Assistant Professor.
  • A relaxation of five years in age criteria is given to reserved category candidates.

UGC NET 2023 Educational Qualification:

  • Candidates should have completed their post-graduation from a UGC recognised college/university.
  • A relaxation of five per cent in educational qualification is given to reserved category candidates.
  • Candidates who have cleared State Eligibility Test (SET) before June 1, 2002, are exempted from taking the UGC NET exam.

UGC NET Admit Card 2023

The UGC NET Phase 5 Admit Card has been released by the NTA (National Testing Agency) on March 9, 2023. With the application number and date of birth, the UGC NET Admit Card for the Phase 5 exam can be downloaded from the UGC NET official website. Applicants can access the exact link provided in this post to download their admit cards. The UGC NET Phase 5 exam is scheduled to be conducted from March 13 to 15, 2023.

By login into the account that was created while filling the UGC NET application form, candidates can download their admit cards. The article's direct link to the admit card for the UGC NET exam is provided below. Candidates must enter their application number and date of birth on the link that the NTA has activated in order to download their UGC NET hall ticket for 2023. On the day of the exam, candidates must bring their admit cards to the UGC NET exam centre.

UGC NET 2023 Application Form

Candidates who are preparing to appear for UGC NET 2023 can fill the online application forms from Dec 29, 2022 till January 23, 2023. The exam to be held from February 21 to March 10, 2023 in the online mode. Students can follow these simple steps to fill the online UGC NET 2023 application form. 

  • Step 1 - Visit the official website at ugcnet.nta.nic.in
  • Step 2 - There you can find the online registraion link.
  • Step 3 - Click on that link and a new window will appear. 
  • Step 4 - Fill in the required details to complete the registraion process. 
  • Step 5 - After creating the login credentials, students can start filling the other required details as asked in the online application form. 
  • Step 6 - Submit the online application fees to successfully complete the registration process. 

UGC NET 2023 Form Correction

National Testing Agency, NTA closed the correction window for UGC NET 2023 on January 20, 2023. The link remained active till 11.50 pm today. Candidates were able to make changes in the application form through the official site of UGC NET at ugcnet.nta.nic.in. As per the official notice, to make corrections in the application form, candidates were charged an additional fee (wherever applicable) either through Credit/Debit Card/Net Banking and UPI. Moreover, this was a one-time facility extended to the candidates to avoid any hardship to them, the candidates were informed to do the correction carefully, as no further chance for correction were given to the candidates.

UGC NET Result 2023

UGC NET result can be downloaded by individual candidates from the official website of the authority through their own login credentials. The result shall contain their performance in the examination. The authority will not send any result to the candidates individually through post or other offline means. UGC NET Exams have been conducted from February 21 to March 15, 2023.

The result of UGC NET contains paper-wise and overall marks scored in the exam by the individual candidate, along with percentages obtained. Based on their scores, candidates shall know their qualifying status for the posts of JRF and Assistant Professor across the country. Candidates can check their results by following the steps mentioned below:

Step 1: Go to the official website of UGC NET.

Step 2: Click on the UGC NET 2023 score on the Homepage.

Step 3: On the result page, enter Application Number, Date of Birth, and Security Pin as asked.

Step 4: Click on the Submit button.

Step 5: The NTA UGC NET Result 2023 will be displayed on your screen. Download the result and keep a copy of it for future references.

There is no maximum age limit for candidates to appear for UGC NET 2023 for Assistant Professor vacancies, while the maximum age limit for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) vacancies is 30 years.

UGC NET 2023 E-Certificate Criteria

UGC NET 2023 exam qualifiers will be awarded an E-Certificate by the UGC. In order to clear the UGC NET exam, General Categoy candidate is required to atleast score 40% marks and Reserved Category candidate is required to score atleast 35% marks. Not all candidates who score the mentioned score will be eligible for the E-certificate. Candidates also need to score passing marks as per the cut off. Only top 6% candidates who passed the UGC NET exam will be eligible for the E-certificate. Passing Marks criteria for UGC NET 2023 exam is mentioned in the following table:

Dear student, it seems that you are mixing up two very different things completely. In order to be eligible to apply for the UPSC civil services examination, you at least need to have a graduation degree from any recognised University. For UGC NET, the minimum qualification required to apply is a postgraduate degree. Thus, only if you have completed your Master’s degree study in History or any related subject, you are eligible to apply for UGC NET with History as your main paper. You can select any subject of your choice in UGC NET 2020 and there is no such limitation restricting you to choosing subjects related to your academics. However, it is recommended that you choose a subject related to your post-graduation or graduation as it helps a lot in the exam.
