NIT Silchar Admission 2023: GATE 2023 results have been released on March 16, 2023. Students can check their results and GATE 2023 cutoff 2023 at gate.iitk.ac.in. JEE Main and session 2 will be held from April 6 to 12, 2023.
NIT Silchar was established in 1967 as a regional engineering college in Assam. In 2002, under the National Institutes of Technology Act, 2007, it was upgraded to the National Institute of Technology status and was declared an Institute of National Importance. According to NIRF 2022 ranking, NIT Silchar has ranked 38th in the engineering category with a score of 54.63 and 76th in the overall category with a score of 46.76. NIT offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in various streams including engineering, science, humanities and 11 other departments. NIT Silchar courses include B.Tech, M.Tech, MCA and MBA.
National Institute of Technology Silchar was the first to have a C-DAC (Centre for Development of Advanced Computing) in northeastern India. NIT also secured the "Excellent band" in 2021 by ARIIA. The institute has collaborated with several other universities for research projects, conferences, and publications. On the idea of the report of the High Powered Joint Expert Committee of AICTE and UGC under the chairmanship of Prof. S. K. Joshi, Director General of Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Regional Engineering College Silchar has been transformed and upgraded to NIT, Silchar with the status of a Deemed University on June 28, 2002. The Institute has been appropriated by the govt. of India and subsequently made into a funded Central Government Autonomous Institution.
